Introductions of the HFUU State Board - Glen Martinez shares that if 2500 hawaii Farmer’s Union members sign up, the National Farmer’s Union will hold their next National Conference in Hawaii.
Evan Ryan- Soil Building 101 - Importance of restoring Carbon in the soil as the source of life for Microorganisms, funguses… Demonstrates layered soil building system, cover cropping, seaweed, comfrey, manure. Can get almost all nutrients in these local sources of carbon.
Seth Raabe- Demonstration on making Fermented
Plant Grow Juice - Bacterial Fermentation of the plant’s essence. Uses comfrey, though any plant can be used., annual herbs used most. Stuff leaf material in jar, add sugar to every layer. Fill jar with water, weight down top to let juices rise over the plant material. Cover to keep bugs out though allowing airflow. Store out of sun let sit for 5-7 days. Strain juice, store in fridge and foliar feed plants 200-500 parts juice : 1 part water. Can last 6 months.
